If you want to know more about why the level of detail in company information can vary from country to country, Louise Green from Bureau van Dijk (BvDep) has written a useful article in the June 2007 edition of Business Information Review. Titled "Deficiencies in European Company Information - Challenges for Vendors". The article distinguishes between the Anglo-Saxon countries' approach of providing information for shareholders and the Continental European approach of providing information for taxation and statutory purposes. The article then describes the services offered by BvDep across Europe.
Its accessible at http://www.bir.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/24/2/89 but you will have to register to access the full article and pay a fee for one-off access.
