GENIOS adds industry reports from Deutscher Sparkassenverlag

In the category of industry information (Branchenberichte & Fakten) GENIOS has added the industry reports (BranchenReports) of the Deutscher Sparkassenverlag (DSV). The DSV is one of the largest media companies in Germany and a specialist publisher in the field of credit information. The DSV industry reports cover 60 branches and include information on market structure as well as the current market situation. Individual reports are approximately 30 pages long and are available in PDF format at a cost of €25,-- (incl. VAT) per report.

eBooks from the Verlag Rudolf Haufe and Rainer Hampp Verlag are now available via GENIOS

GENIOS also announced the availability of specialist business and management related publications in the form of eBooks. The eBooks portfolio is made up of publications from the Verlag Rudolf Haufe and Rainer Hampp Verlag. The eBooks are in PDF-format and can be accessed as complete publications or as individual chapters. For example the publication "Veröffentlichungspflichten nach dem neuen EHUG: Pflichten - Verfahren - Haftung" by Susanne Christ and Adrian Müller-Helle, referred to in the posting ECFI Buyer’s Guide of 5th September 2007 can be obtained as an eBook.

Deficiences in European Company Information

If you want to know more about why the level of detail in company information can vary from country to country, Louise Green from Bureau van Dijk (BvDep) has written a useful article in the June 2007 edition of Business Information Review. Titled "Deficiencies in European Company Information - Challenges for Vendors". The article distinguishes between the Anglo-Saxon countries' approach of providing information for shareholders and the Continental European approach of providing information for taxation and statutory purposes. The article then describes the services offered by BvDep across Europe.

Neue Literatur zum Thema EHUG und Veröffentlichungspflichten

Was den Teil des ECFI Buyer’s Guide betrifft, der den deutschen Markt behandelt, wurde häufig auf das Gesetz über elektronische Handelsregister und Genossenschaftsregister sowie das Unternehmensregister, kurz EHUG, Bezug genommen, das am 1.1.2007 in Kraft trat. Zwei Verlage, der Bundesanzeiger Verlag und die Haufe Mediengruppe haben vor kurzem Bücher zum EHUG herausgegeben, die Hintergrundsinformationen und Arbeitshilfen zu dieser wichtigen rechtlichen und wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung geben. GENIOS announces further Workshops for 2007

GENIOS has recently issued details of a further round of their "Tipps and Tricks" Workshops. There are two categories of Workshops. The first category "Tipps and Tricks für die Recherche" involves improving database research techniques whereas the second category, "Tipps and Tricks für Firmen-, Markt-, Brancheninformationen" focuses on specialist subject areas, one of them being company information. On the subject of training, if the information providers send us details of their training programmes the Editorial Team would be only too glad to post them on the weblog. Also given the European focus of the ECFI Buyer's Guide we would like to hear of training sessions being planned for some of the international events, such as the forthcoming Book Fair in Frankfurt/Main on 10-14th October or the Online Information 2007 exhibition in London on 4-6th December.

How to become an author on the weblog

Thanks for the step-by-step instructions on how to become an author on the ECFI Buyer's Guide weblog. As you can see from this posting I made it and it works! Nevertheless, there are two points on which I would be grateful for some further clarification. Firstly, now that I am a "Google Account holder" what else can I do with it? Secondly, during the Google Account sign up process I stumbled (more than once) over the Word Verification requirement. What is that all about?

Alacra launches Alacra Wiki

Alacra one of the company information providers listed in the ECFI Buyer's Guide has launched a Web 2.0 application Alacra Wiki. See http://www.alacrawiki.com for more details. According to the introduction,

"The Alacra Wiki is a guide to business information companies, publishers and databases. Anyone can contribute, but you must create an account in order to do so. Marketing materials, product reviews, product announcements and executive bios are all welcome."
